Techrete Ireland Ltd

Techrete relocated from their original premises in Howth Dublin to a new state of the art Headquarters Building and Precast Concrete Manufacturing Facility near Balbriggan in county Dublin. The new facility is built on a 6 hectare site that provides large outdoor product storage area and ample room for expansion. The whole process of Planning Permission, Enabling Works, Construction and Production Transfer was completed in a period of two years.

Cifton Scannell Emerson Associates (CSEA) acted as Civil, Structural Design Engineers on the project.

  • 9000 sq.m. Manufacturing facility
  • New Headquarters Building
  • Staff Canteen
  • Open pond attenuation feature

The Techrete facility is composed of a large area of impermeable surfaces inclusive of roof areas, hard standing /marshalling yards and car parking. In order to meet the requirements of the Greater Dublin Strategic Drainage Study (GDSDS) attenuation of surface water runoff is provided in an open pond with a storage capacity of 985m3 thus providing capacity to attenuate the critical 100 year rainfall event. In addition to the storm attenuation capacity a volume of 750m3 is provided to retain water which drawn from the pond for grey water uses within the production facility.

Value engineering was a specific client requirement of the design process and resulted in significant cost savings due to rationalisation of the structural steel elements and minimisation of floor slab thickness' to meet the clients requirements as opposed to adhering to industry norm empirical design.
