The New Urban Institute at UCD Richview Campus will provide a focal point for research across a broad range of areas including archaeology, architecture, economics, engineering, environmental studies, geography, planning and sociology.
The building fabric structure arrangement and volumes are designed to prevent over-heating in summer and to collect heat for redistribution in winter. Control and monitoring systems for natural ventilation and artificial lighting will be put in place to minimize energy consumption and hence Co2 emissions. This new research facility is being provided under the leadership of University College, Dublin in partnership with Trinity College and with the collaboration of other Third Level Institutions.
