St Raphaela's School, Stillorgan, Co Dublin

The project involved the construction of a number of extensions to the existing single storey secondary school. The extensions provided an additional classroom, science laboratory, staff room, principal & deputy principal's office and a new feature entrance lobby. The extensions were constructed in load-bearing masonry with external insulation and to the current Department Of Education guidelines.

The works were carried out during the school term and minimum disruption to the school activities was encountered through constant liaison between the Client, Contractor and Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates (CSEA). The new entrance lobby was the final piece of work to be carried out and was to be installed during the State Examination period. To minimise disruption to the school during this very important time, CSEA worked with the Contractor to redesign the new entrance lobby to enable off-site fabrication of the structure. This redesign and Contractor-liaison allowed the installation on site to be completed in a single 4-hour window.

CSEA were appointed as Project Managers, Architect and Civil/Structural Engineers on this project.
