CRH Plc – Belgard Castle Annex Refurbishment

As the global headquarters of International building materials supplier, CRH plc, Belgard Castle is a high-profile office development.

The refurbishment of the Castle Annex and construction of new Link Building is required to facilitate the future development of group headquarters in Ireland.

It is proposed to refurbish the Castle Annex building to a modern specification whilst improving accessibility and energy-efficiency. This 3-storey building straddles the storey high change of level between the Castle Yard and the Upper Yard. It sits on top of 4 vaults built into the change in level and fronting onto the Castle Yard. The changes in level are to be accommodated by the construction of a new vertical circulation core with contemporary glazed and stone facade.

Further to the refurbishment and upgrade of the Castle Annex, it is proposed to construct a new Link Building between the Castle Annex and the Finance Building (completed by CSEA in 2006). The Link Building will provide additional office space to cater for the expanding commercial needs of the business. This new single-storey building will improve accessibility between the differing floor levels of the various buildings by the inclusion of ramps and lifts.

The property is a listed structure and all works are specified and executed in accordance with an agreed conservation strategy, in liaison with Consultant Architects, Conservation Architects and South Dublin County Council.
