The project involved the refurbishment of a number of areas of the existing listed Belgard Castle, the global group headquarters of CRH plc.
The refurbishment of the existing 'Cottage' building to facilitate the change of use from general storage to a modern office accommodation. The works involved the construction of a new roof, waterproofing, internal partition, new windows and external lime render all carried out to best conservation practises. A cedar-clad Link corridor was constructed to join the newly refurbished 'Cottage' to the adjacent 2-storey office building.
The existing toilet facilities within the Castle building itself were outdated and were poorly laid out as a result of years of alterations. The works allowed for the refurbishment of this whole area to provide new male, female and disabled welfare facilities and kitchen area. The opportunity was taken to refurbish some of the original Castle masonry and expose these details as part of the permanent works.
