The project involved the construction of new landing slabs and the installation of new stairs and goods lift within C-Wing in Mountjoy Prison. In order to facilitate the new works, the demolition of the existing cast-iron stairs and landings was required. During the works, the Client requested that Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates prepare a proposal for the refurbishment of the end gable glazing on the Wing and including the restoration of the existing stone mullions and the installation of 2-storey high glass-block glazing. The works to the end gable was issued as a Proposed Instruction to the Main Contractor, the price approved by the Client and a change order issued to proceed with the works.
The works to C-Wing, as managed by Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates, were carried out in conjunction with additional works on the Wing by the same Contractor. This process involved close liaison between Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates and the other Project Managers to ensure a seamless interaction of the works requirements and the timely completion of the project for the Client.
