CSEA were appointed by Dancor Civil Engineering to provide civil and structural engineering services for the delivery of a Design and Build sewage pumping station for Monaghan County Council to service a catchment of industrial land. With a delivery capacity of 28l/s and a wet well storage capacity of 100m3 the pumping station had to intercept flow from an incoming sewer at a depth of 4m.
The Wet well was constructed from interlocking precast concrete shaft units with an in situ reinforced concrete base. The shaft was constructed using the underpinning method and extended 8m below existing ground level. The construction methodology was chosen due to the confined nature of the site and the suitably stiff soil conditions.
