Foul Sewer Diversion 9B Clondalkin

The scheme involved the diversion of a section of the existing 1200mmᴓ 9B Trunk Sewer at Crag Avenue, Clondalkin Co. Dublin. The purpose of the scheme was to enable the site, currently traversed by the 9B sewer, to be developed as a Data Centre campus. The proposed diversion consisted of c.600m of new 1350mmᴓ pipework and 9 new manholes including two tie-in manholes constructed on the line of the existing 9B sewer at the upstream and downstream ends of the scheme.

Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates (CSEA) were appointed by Echelon Data Centres to assess route options, develop a Basis of Design Report in order to confirm project design parameters with Irish Water, develop a Detailed Design Report which outlines the geotechnical/earthworks design, hydraulic design of the pipeline, structural design of manholes and other structural elements and obtaining approval from Irish Water for materials used on the project. CSEA also acted as PSDP on the project and carried out site supervision.

The construction of the tie-in manholes involved the overpumping of the flows (c.300 litres/sec) in the existing 9B sewer during the works.
