Geoff Emerson
Director

Geoff has over 20 years experience in Civil, Structural and Transportation Consulting Engineering and Project Management acting as Project Manager for strategic Road Schemes, Street Upgrades, Quality Bus Network Schemes, Sustainable Transport Schemes, Transportation Catchment Studies & Bridge Design.

Geoff has also had significant experience in large-scale site developments for private clients including Green Property Ltd, Menolly Homes Ltd and Bennett Developments. Recent Structural and Engineering experience includes the N3 Mulhuddart Overbridge and Midlands Prison Extension (€26m). Clients include National Transport Authority, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, Kilkenny County Council, Louth County Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Meath County Council, National Roads Authority and Dublin Transportation Office. Previously while working with RPS he was involved in the M50 South –Eastern Motorway scheme.

Hubert Feneran
Director

Hubert has been with Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates since 2002 having graduated from University of Dundee in 2001. He's Project Managed numerous large scale Civil/Structural projects including road design, drainage design, structural steel and concrete design, detailing and preparation of planning, tender and construction documentation for large scale projects. The tender detail and preparation of Pre-land purchase for due diligence for proposed projects (FDI) and for Land Transfer contracts; site investigation contracts and construction contracts.

Hubert has acted as PSDP Coordinator on schemes such as: 110Kv Substations & Associated Civil Works, Ballycoolin Cappagh Road Realignment, CRH Finance Building, Cappogue Road Extension.

Ronan Geoghegan
Director
B.E., C.Eng., MIEI, Dip. Proj.Man.

Ronan joined Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates as a graduate engineer in 2002. He’s built up a large portfolio of experience ranging in Site Development, Project Management, Contract Administration, Road Design, Services and Utilities (including HV power and HP gas), Drainage Schemes, Water Schemes, Bridge Design, Reinforced Concrete and Steel Design, River Channel Design, Canal Crossing. This broad range of experience has brought him to be CSEA’s principal lead for overseeing Public Realm projects.

Ronan has been Project Manager, main point of contact and PSDP from feasibility stage through to construction and handover on numerous greenways and cycle schemes designed to meet the standards set out in the NTA National Cycle Manual (NCM) and Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (DMURS). Ronan also has significant and relevant experience and has a proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary design teams that use innovative solutions and value-engineering methods to overcome constraints in the design process to produce attractive and functional greenways that enhance the public realm.

Pauraic Matthews
Director

Pauraic joined CSEA in 2000 and in that time has gained extensive experience in Civil & Structural Engineering design on a large range of projects including One Molesworth Street, Horizon Business Park, Units 1-6 & A & B in Fonthill Business Park, Midlands Prison Extension, Blanchardstown Retail Park, Ongar Road, Ballycoolin Bus Corridor, Cruiserath Road and Drainage Works to name but a few.

Clients include Green Property, Braun Oral-B, Fingal County Council, Irish Prison Service, amongst others.

Caroline Butler
Director
M.Eng.Sc., B.E., C.Eng, MIEI

Caroline Butler joined Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates as a graduate engineer from UCD in 2004. She is responsible for the Project Management and design of large and complex infrastructure projects in environments from busy urban settings to sub-urban and rural. Caroline has extensive experience of taking projects through all stages of delivery from concept, through design, statutory orders, construction and handover. She also has extensive experience of coordinating and managing teams of engineers, technicians and environmental sub-consultants.

Caroline's experience includes Project Management, Contract Preparation and Administration, Road and Junction Upgrade and Design, Road Realignment and Widening, Cycle Network Planning and Infrastructure Design, Utilities, Drainage Schemes, Sewerage Networks, Statutory Procedures including Part VIII Planning Process, Tender Process, Site Supervision including Resident Engineer, Constraints Study, Route Selection, EIS / EIAR Screening and Preparation, PSDP duties.

Caroline brings invaluable experience in engagement with large numbers of property owners in order to agree sometimes extensive accommodation works for urban infrastructure and road schemes to this team. Her years spent working as a resident engineer lend a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities relating to successful engagement with property owners. She understands the value of early engagement and careful coordination of correspondence.

Geraldine Emerson
Director Business & HR
PhD, MSc, BSc, Cchem, MRSC

Geraldine graduated with an honours degree and a PhD from University College Dublin. Joining Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates in 1999, Geraldine is the Business Director of CSEA with particular responsibility for Finance, Human Resources and Quality.

Marcus Clifford
Associate Director
B.Eng., C.Eng, MIEI, MCIHT, MCIWEM

Marcus has 20+ years experience and has extensive experience in civil engineering, roads, water services, utility provision and site development. Marcus is a member of Engineers Ireland (IEI), Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

This experience includes design, planning, procurement and contract administration of contracts related to all of the above project types. Clients include Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, Louth County Council, IDA Ireland and a number of private clients.

Laurence McCrudden
Associate Director
MSc, B.Eng, MIEI

Laurence has been with CSEA since 2012 and was appointed Associate Director in 2021. Laurence graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1997 with a Masters of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering following an Honours Degree in Engineering in 1996. With over 20 years experience in Structural Engineering design. Laurence has gained considerable experience on numerous large scale Structural/Civil projects including structural steel, concrete, masonry and timber design, road and site services detailing and preparation of planning, tender and construction documentation for large scale projects. Laurence has extensive experience in the Structural and Civil design in the Data centre and Pharmaceutical industries.

Barry Dorgan
Associate Director
B.E., MIEI

Barry was appointed Associate Director in 2021, having joined CSEA in 2015. Graduating from UCD in 2004, he has a wide range of engineering experience in both design and contracting roles, working on projects in Ireland and abroad. Barry has worked on major civil infrastructure projects, mixed use developments and urban transportation improvement schemes. He has extensive project management, design and field engineering experience across a wide range of civil engineering works including railways liaison, procurement, report writing, design and construction of roads, structures, utilities and earthworks.

Conor Doherty
Associate
BE, CEng, MIEI

As Chartered Engineer with seventeen years’ experience, Conor has been involved in the delivery of a wide variety of projects for both public and private sector clients in both Ireland and overseas. He has experience in Earthworks Design, Foul and Surface Drainage Design, Road and Pavement Design, Site Development Works and Co-Ordination of Underground Services and Utilities. Key competency is in the field of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), co-ordination of Civil Engineering Works on complex multi-disciplinary projects, including numerous Data Centre schemes, and High Voltage Grid Connection schemes.

Conor has had responsibility for developing and managing Civil Engineering Designs associated with Site Development Works ensuring that design works are carried out in accordance with relevant design codes and best practice guidelines. Primary areas of expertise include:

  • Surface Water Network Design including modelling of networks using Micro-Drainage software;
  • Foul Water and Watermain Network Design for residential and industrial developments;
  • Site Supervision and Construction Claims Assessment;
  • Preparation of Cost Estimates and Tender Assessment Reports;
  • Preparation of Contract Documents and Bills of Quantities (Department of Finance - Public Works Contract for Civil Engineering Work Designed by the Employer).
  • Extensive experience in liaison with Statutory Undertakers and Local Authorities
  • Obtaining design approvals from third party organisations such as ESB, EirGrid and Irish Water
  • Experience of dealing with the planning process for infrastructure schemes including Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) applications to An Bord Pleanála.

Patrycja Walczyk

Patrycja have pursued a career as an Engineer in Road and Highway Engineering. I have been fortunate to work on many challenging and diverse projects and these projects have given me an opportunity to develop my highway designing skills and hone my analytical and technical aptitude.

Patrycja's experience entends to:

  • Extensive knowledge in relation to standards used in road and highway design.
  • Substantial experience in both highways design and developing site and road infrastructure for housing developments, commercial developments, road improvements and junction upgrades.
  • Effective at time management and prioritising tasks to achieve deadlines.
  • Supervising of preparing projects for Planning, Compliance, Tender and Construction Stages.

Damien O'Brien
Associate
BEng, Dip.Env.Eng, CEng MIEI, Dip Occupational H&S, GradIOSH

Damien has 15+ years in the delivery of a wide range of civil engineering works. Damien’s experience includes the completion of large and complex infrastructure projects and public realm improvement works through all stages of delivery including planning, design, procurement, administration of contracts and construction management.

Damien is also experienced in undertaking the role of PSDP coordinator.
Damien currently acts as Health and Safety Advisor and PSDP Coordinator for CSEA ensuring the company’s compliance with the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety accreditation.

Robert Thomas
Associate

Robert is a chartered structural engineer who has successfully led structural design teams over 25 years on projects in the Ireland and the UK. A strong emphasis has always been placed on a good working relationship with design teams, contractors and clients. Projects include, Residential, Retail, Office, Data Centres, Heavy industrial, Domestic, Educational and Healthcare in both the public and private sector.

Robert while primarily been office based, also has substantial experience in site inspections and structural surveys. He has also performed in the role as a resident engineer on numerous projects. He has extensive experience in delivering projects in restricted and live sites where the safe interface with the building operations and public is critical to the project’s success.

David Kennedy
Associate
BEng, Dip.Proj.Mgmt, MIEI

David joined Clifton Scannell Emerson in 2015 and has acted as Senior Engineer on numerous industrial, commercial, residential and education sector projects. Undertaking the structural design of steel frame, insitu reinforced concrete, precast concrete, insulated concrete formwork, traditional load bearing blockwork and timber structures. David has experience of large civil projects on live campuses, green, brown field and urban sites.

Daire Lynn

Since joining CSEA Daire has acted as Project Manager/Engineer, Senior Design Engineer and Resident Engineer on a range of transportation, public realm and civil engineering projects that included, but not limited to, road construction and upgrading, utility design & coordination, production and delivery of tenders for both the private and public sector. Experience in the delivery of schemes from concept design (including masterplanning for business park), planning, detailed design, tender, construction and handover.

Peter Fagan

Peter has 35+ years experience of Consulting Engineering & Construction Project Management for Public and Private clients including South Dublin County Council, Fingal County Council, Louth County Council, Green Property Ltd, IDA Ireland, Howard Holdings, Harcourt Developments and Stadium Investments.

Peter has substantial project management experience particularly in relation to the development of Business Parks and Industrial lands. Peter is knowledgeable on all aspects of masterplanning, service requirements and development issues associated with such works. Peter's experience also includes a range of Public Infrastructure Projects including Roads, Water and Waste Water Schemes. His Structural experience includes large Retail Developments, Offices, Industrial and Institutional.

Aidan Smith

Aidan has 35+ years experience and joined CSEA in 1980 having returned to Ireland after working in the UK and the Middle East. Aidan is a member of the Traditional Building & Conservation Skills Register of practitioners of the Irish Georgian Society and has particular experience in Structural Analysis and Design.

Aidan, having acted as Director/Health & Safety Director for 20+ years with CSEA now acts as Consultant with the firm sharing his knowledge gained from his extensive experience in all aspects of Civil and Structural Engineering design on a wide variety of projects, including Eurocontrol Shannon, Braun Ireland, UCD Belgrove Student Residences, Fonthill Business Park, Tyrrellstown District Centre, School of Engineering & Landscape Architecture, UCD Newstead, Leinster Rugby Training Facility Clonskeagh and numerous commercial, industrial, institutional and retail developments. Clients include UCD, IDA, Twinlite, Procter and Gamble and Green Property plc.

Michael Holst

Michael has 35+ years experience in Civil/Structural Consulting Engineering in Ireland/UK. Michael has vast experience in Structural Projects such as Award Winning Glasnevin Cemetery as well as in Healthcare/Educational, Institutional, Commercial, Residential, Restoration and acting as Resident Engineer.

Other key projects include in his career Portlaoise Hospital New Psychiatric and A& E Unit's, Termonbarry Marina, Stadium Business Park, Blanchardstown Retail Park 2, TCD School of Pharmacology and Genetics, DIT Aungier Street Phase 1, Harcourt Centre, George's Quay Development. Restoration of Glasnevin and Goldenbridge Cemeteries, Collins Barracks Phase 1, Corlea Interpretive Centre and Belgard Castle. Michael has been a committee member with the Irish Concrete Society since 2002 including having held the roles as Company Secretary and Honorary Treasurer. He has also served on the Sub-Committee on the Irish Annex on concrete durability to EC2/EN206.

Pat Davis

Pat has 35+ years experience in Civil/Structural Engineering Consultancy on a variety of projects including Infrastructure and Buildings. He has acted as Project Manager for large infrastructure projects for IDA and Local Authorities in addition to numerous buildings for private developers.

Pat has significant experience in Contract Management for both large and small-scale civil and structural projects including tender procedures under the IEI conditions of contract and the New Form of Public Works Contract. Clients include Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, IDA Ireland and Green Property.
